What more can we say about our Best Of The Alps package, except that it has everything…big days out, classic cols and memories of a lifetime. Our week-long package includes the most iconic mountain passes and must-do routes of the French Alps.

DAY 1

ARRIVAL DAY

Daily Facts :

2.5 H

150 KM

1260 M

Col de la Forclaz

A scenic view of a large, blue lake surrounded by green hills and mountains, with a wooden platform in the foreground extending into the landscape. The sky is clear and blue, enhancing the vibrant colors of the scene. Small towns and patches of vegetation can be seen on the shores of the lake.

After arriving at Geneva airport, where you will be met by Robyn, Guide My Ride founder and Guide, a private transfer will take you directly to the motorbike hire pick up point. Your luggage will be transported ahead of you to the chalet. Now we enjoy the first guided ride of the trip, passing over the Col de la Forclaz, with its stunning views of Lake Annecy. We then make our way into the Tarentaise Valley, and up to Bourg Saint Maurice, where an arrival aperitif will greet you at the chalet, followed by a welcome meeting.

  • If you are joining us on your own bike then you can make your way directly to the chalet, to arrive between 4 and 5pm, in time for the welcome meeting and apéritif.

DAY 2

TOUR DE LA VANOISE

Daily Facts :

5 H

230 KM

3500 M

Col de la Madeleine

Aerial view of a winding road through a forested area, featuring numerous sharp twists and turns.

Our day begins with the ascent of the iconic Col de l’Isèran, Europe’s highest paved mountain pass at 2,764M in altitude. After summiting, we cross over into the heart of the Vanoise National Park, with it’s picturesque descent to Bonneval-Sur-Arc, listed as one of the “most beautiful villages of France”. From here we meander down into the Maurienne Valley, and take a detour up Les Lacets de Montvernier, an incredible feat of engineering, with seventeen switch backs carved out of the mountainside. We return back into the Tarentaise Valley, via the Col de la Madeleine, a regular feature of the Tour de France, packed full of superb chicanes and hairpins on the ascent. Our final descent of the day brings us though several traditional mountain hamlets before our return home.

DAY 3

ARAVIS 8

Daily Facts :

6 H

260 KM

6100 M

Col des Aravis

Mountain road with cyclist surrounded by green hills and distant snow-capped peaks under a clear blue sky.

Today we tackle three famous mountain passes of the Route des Grandes Alpes, beginning our journey with the tight and twisty roads of the Cormet de Roselend. We pass through Beaufort on our descent, home to the regions famous Beaufort cheese. Next, we tackle the amazing Col des Aravis, a road that begins by carving its way out of the mountain side, before climbing up to the summit by a seemingly endless supply of corners. The third and equally fun Col de la Colombière, with it’s wide open hairpin bends, is the final of the three famous mountain passes, but not our last of the day. We journey home through the classic alpine landscapes of Areches and the Col de Pré, soaking up the stunning lake views, of the Lac de Roselend, before descending back into Bourg Saint Maurice.

Daily Facts :

7 H

325 KM

7500 M

Col du Grand St Bernard

A mountain road with a hairpin curve surrounded by lush green forest and a snow-capped mountain in the background under a clear blue sky.

It needs no introduction. The tour du Mont Blanc is one of the ultimate classics of the Alps; three countries in a day and epic views of the Mont Blanc from all sides. We begin our day winding up the forest-lined roads that lead to the Col du Petit Saint Bernard, and the French/Italian border. We then drop into the beautiful Aoste Valley before taking on Robyn’s personal favorite the Col du Grand Saint Bernard, with its breathtaking views and amazing corners. On to our third country of the day, we enter Switzerland where our return begins with the fast flowing bends of the Col de la Forclaz, leading back into France and through the world-renowned resort of Chamonix, at the foot of the mighty Mont Blanc. The day is not yet done as we ascend into the Val d’Arly and pack in both the picturesque Col des Saisies and the Cormet de Roselend, to complete our epic adventure.

DAY 5

REST DAY

Rest days are important to offer that perfect balance of ride time and relaxation, so that you can make the most of your holiday. Take some free time to explore the local area yourself, with or without your bike, make the most of the activities Les Arcs/Bourg Saint Maurice have to offer in the summer season, or simply relax on the chalet terrace with a good book. Whatever you want to do.

DAY 6

BABY BAUGES

Daily Facts :

6 H

6800 M

Col du Frêne

Winding mountain road with sharp bend, surrounded by lush green forest and hills under clear blue sky.

We begin this day by ascending the Col de la Madeleine, then access the Massif des Bauges, an UNESCO Géoparc, via the short but punchy Col du Frêne. We snake our way up through the rolling hills of the Bauges, which offer a playground of meandering turns, surrounded by stunning landscapes. After summiting Mount Semnoz, we then descend into Annecy, known as the ‘Little Venice’ of France, with it’s picture book old town, set on the turquoise blue waters of Lake Annecy. We journey home taking on one final pass, the Col de Tamié, known for it’s cheese made exclusively by monks at the Tamié Abbey.
